Pierce the Veil with Eyes Unclouded!

Today’s devlog is a small one-since all backgrounds are done, I (Sidhedust) wanted to talk about a feature that’s being implimented- speaking with neighbors!

After Chapter 1 and the opening scene in Chapter 2, you can move around freely as Luana-your options are limited, and the story won’t change, but there’s lots of little things to indulge in to get a little more immersed into the world. ~~and maaaaaybe even unlock a thing or two!~~

One of the things you can indulge in is speaking to beings from beyond the veil. From small house spirits in the dorms, to the earth, sea, and sky bending elementals outside, a variety of friends can be spoken to if you so choose. Luana’s done with the magic world, but that doesn’t mean she wants to leave without a goodbye to those who have been nothing but kind to her!

When you press the “V” button, you can turn on Luana’s arcane sight-this destroys the mental blocks she’s put up and allows you, the player, to see the world hidden from most human eyes-the world behind the veil!

The veil, as depicted above, is an opalescent sheet of magic that is layered on top of the mortal plane. It bends and twists to keep neighbors hidden from humans. Due to the mortal plane’s pitiful magic reserves compared to the planes neighbors come from or fled to, neighbors that live on the mortal plane have to rely on this magic resource for glamour spells and invisibility spells to save their own magic reserves for their own needs and desires.

The only humans that are able to see past the veil are mages-people that are heirs to black and white magic, and have a complicated history in the world of Eostella.

If you’d like to see more neighbors that will appear in the VN, please, follow Sidhedust’s Tumblr, where they draw new little dudes everyday…OR just head on to the main page to meet a few that have been introduced properly already!

Final Thoughts

Lastly-some who are following the project expressed interest in a demo. So for now, the plan is to make a demo up to Ch.2’s peak of conflict, and the rest of the VN will just have to come later. For now, that is the goal-a demo before or around the middle of the year.

Thanks for tuning in, and see you next post!
