Today we introduce the second (major) fairy in the prologue, the Verdant Lady, a member of the Tuatha De Danann that hasn’t shrunk or become an animal-shaped being! Her secret? No one knows, but many wish they could’ve had the knowledge she does when humans settled in Ierene.

Age: She’s been around for a while-but she’s younger than the Lord of the Market.

Species: A member of the Tuatha de Danann in the flesh!

True Name: ???

Ethnicity: Same as her species; gods and spirits use their species as an ethnicity.

Nationality: Formerly Ierene-her current base of operations is unknown to all but her.

Quote: “Oh dear, did I scare you? How precious…forgive me, I simply did not know how else to approach you, changeling child…”

The Verdant Lady is a descendant of Danu-and unlike many of her folk, she has a stunning, human-sized form even after humans settled in her people’s homeland! On the other hand, like many of her folk post-human Ierene, she’s free to do as she pleases. In the Prologue of the story, she’s taking a vacation in Keona to relax, visit a mortal friend, and hopefully heal some of the wounds of the past.

While she’s in a particularly good mood, stealing food from restaurants in the heart of the city, she sniffs out the resident changeling of the country to encourage her to follow her dreams and move to Tovera, going as far as to aid her in transportation and magic knowledge to help move things along.

The Verdant Lady has her reasons, but keeps them vague when asked, so much so that Luana can only accept the help and hope it isn’t a bad omen-after all, if a fairy is helping you with nothing to be gained on their end, shit is probably about to hit the fan.

Final Word

The next character intro will feature some more fairies-three little people, to be exact, two of which haven’t been lucky in surviving post-human Ierene without shrinking as they aged, and one that’s always been quite tiny, making his home among the butterbur leaves of his homeland. See you then!
